The Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Project has donated a number of items to the Countryside Children’s Welfare Home at Awutu Bawjiase.

The items included; assorted Reading books, bags of rice, boxes of biscuit, tissues, Veronica buckets, sanitizers, bags of sachet water, gallons of cooking oil, quantities of liquid soap and gallons of cooking oil.

Hajia Samira Bawumia, wife of the Vice President and Founder and Chief Executive officer of the Project who made the presentation at the Home said April 24 each year was earmarked as World Book Day.

The Project in this regard, deemed it prudent to donate the learning materials and other items as its contribution towards the grooming and proper up-bringing of children at the Home.

She urged the management of the Home to take good care of children who were under their care, saying they were the future manpower of the Country and that their welfare should always be paramount.

Later, she had a session with some of the children, where she read one of the books and discussed the contents with them, urging them to cultivate the culture of reading to help them in their education.

Madam Emma Boafo, Chief Executive Officer of the Home, thanked her and the entire members of the project for the gesture.

She said the Home provided parental care and training for needy children to prepare them to be able to face the challenges of life with confident.

She promised that the items would be prudently used for the intended purpose of enhancing the welfare of the children.

Neenyi George Andah, Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya Constituency in an interview with the media after the ceremony, thanked her for choosing the constituency for the donation and prayed that the project would continue to support the district in its developmental programmes.

He advised his constituents to be mindful of the COVID-19.
“Let us strictly comply with the social distancing, frequent washing of hands with soap under running water, wearing of nose masks and other directives to help stop the spreading of the Pandemic”, he added.

Among other personalities, who accompanied her were; the Deputy Central Regional Minister, Thomas Adjei Baffoe, Mr Stephen Kwame Quaye, Awutu-Senya District Chief Executive and some members of the Project.
