New Edubiase striker Emmanuel Baffour is not getting distracted over the negative remarks passed on him by ex-Ghana international Tony Yeboah.
The former Black Stars attacker has been heavily criticized for questioning the goalscoring exploits of the 23-year-old in the country’s top-flight league this season.
The ex-Liberty Professionals and Tema Youth attacker has raked in 21 goals and is on the verge of breaking Ishmael Addo’s 22-goal record set since the inception of the Ghana Premier League.
But the former goal machine who is touted as the country’s best ever striker questioned the pedigree of the youngster by claiming most of his goals has been aided by refereeing decisions after his Division One League club Yegoala FC were bundled out of the MTN FA cup by Edubiase.
The comment sparked huge condemnation from many fans including Tema Youth Chief Executive Winfred Osei Parma who threatened to drag him to the ethics committee of the Ghana Federation.
But Baffour is refusing to be drawn into the debate by insisting he is only focused on achieving his target for the season.
“I am not worried over the comment of Mr. Yeboah at all. I am only focus on achieving what I have set for myself,” Baffour sad.
“There is no point in talking about the issue. I believe many people have seen the goals that have been scored and so I’m not perturbed at all.
“It’s the dream of every player to score week-in and out and I am happy I am on course because at the end of the day, the target is to get a call-up into the national team.
“Your performance should speak for you and nothing else,”
