An old student of the Tatale Evangelical Presbyterian Senior High School Mrs Georgina Bajo has donated 20 Mathematics books to the school and urged students to be resilient in their education to become successful in life.
Mrs Bajo in partnership with the Tekpan Anyobank, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), presented the books to the school as part of its 20th anniversary celebration.
A statement signed by Mr Simon Libalgma Kuwella, the Founder of Tekpan Anyobank and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said Mrs Bajo’s donation was to encourage the students to better appreciate the mathematics subject and also prioritise their education.
The statement said the situation where most young people especially girls failed their mathematics subjects in the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations, must be a thing of the past.
It said students ought to know that education had never been easy and would not be easy and therefore, the need for every individual student to play their part to avoid failure adding that, “If you cannot be among the best, do not be among the last.”
Quoting Mrs Bajo, the statement urged girls to be extra careful especially as they were at a stage where men would promise them everything saying, “Do not fall for it, because if you do and you drop out of school, they will go for educated ladies and leave you.”
The statement urged students to be respectful in all endeavours to assist them climb higher, the academic ladder adding that, for students to be successful, there was the need for them to accord maximum respect parents, teachers, guardians and all persons.
