The Forward Operating Base (FOB) Ashanti of Operation Vanguard arrested four persons for engaging in illegal mining despite government’s ban on the act.
They were arrested at Freboye in the Asiwa District of the Ashanti Region.
Squadron Leader Robison Omane Adjei, the PRO of Operation Vanguard, mentioned the names of the suspects as Emmanuel Latsu, 23 years, Dzila Kwesi, 26 years, Yaw Gyamfi, 32 years and Wisdom Gbaffa, also 36 years.
The team also immobilised 11 Changfangs, and a carpet used for washing sand suspected to contain gold.
The suspects were sent to the Asiwa District police station together with the seized items.
