I am proud to be a Ghanaian and humbled that The Embassy would recognize my efforts to promote our beloved country. Although I?ve traveled throughout Africa and lived in other countries on the continent, Ghana has always been home.” Of Selasi’s visit to Embassy, His Excellency stated, ?Being an ambassador is not limited to a political assignment, because the way you represent Ghana also makes you an ambassador.”

Selasi has also made great strides in the American music industry producing and engineering songs for notables like?Idris Elba, Kandi Burruss, Trey Songz, Bobby Valentino, Nas, Akon?and more. He recently released his own music,?Shades Of Grey, which melds African, Caribbean and American music into a style that MTV World has described as “a fluent blend of hip-life, pop, and reggae? citing Selasi as ?the first artist to truly and seamlessly merge all three styles.”

Although all these achievements set Selasi apart, the most remarkable of them all is his extraordinary patriotism to Ghana and the entire continent of Africa. Born and bred in Dzorwulu, Accra, Ghana to Ghanaian parents (mom is Ghanaian & Nigeran, dad is an Ewe), his love for Ghana is evident through his frequent and proud display of the Ghanaian flag, paraphernalia, t-shirts, and symbols in most of the TV episodes and interviews in which he is featured. His video for ?Call The Police? which recently began airing on MTV World, MTVIggy, Channel O and most recent video ?Ups & Downs (Tie Masem)? both feature the Ghanaian flag prominently.

In the meeting, Selasi shared with His Excellency, one of the ways he intends to impact the music industry in Ghana. ?Growing up in Ghana, the schools I went to were not equipped with musical instruments,? he shares. ?I’m currently working on launching an initiative that would help equip the music department of some schools with instruments so our future generations will have a solid musical foundation.”
