The Samuel Amo (SA) Tobbin Foundation; formerly the Tobinco Foundation, in collaboration with the Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited (TPL) has organised a street party for more than 1,500 children in Accra.
The party was organised on Monday to celebrate the New Year and 20th anniversary of the Pharmaceuticals in the country in appreciation of the contribution the public has put into its operation to make it successful.
The event included free meals and drinks session for the children, pick and act competition, dancing competition, performance by professional dancers, sharing of souvenirs and other fun activities.
Mrs Millicent Akoto, Executive Director of the Foundation speaking to the GNA in an interview said the event was organised to celebrate the successful operations by the TPL.
She said Mr Samuel Amo Tobbin, Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies who was the brain behind the event decided to celebrate the anniversary with children, widows, the sick, and deprived to give back to society what he had received from them.
Mrs Akoto noted that the almost GHȼ 30,000.00 worth programme was meant to put smiles on the faces of children especially those who could not celebrate the Christmas and New Year due to financial constraints.
She also educated the children on how to maintain personal hygiene at home and in school by keeping their uniforms neat, fingernails clean and short, and washing their hands properly before eating.
She therefore shared Xtracare hand sanitiser to all the children to inculcate the habit of using them whenever it became necessary to ensure that they were secured from diseases.
