Tokyo stocks declined Friday morning as Wall Street’s overnight losses created a dour market mood, while some investors opted for profits and to square away positions ahead of the weekend.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 2.77 points, or 0.18 percent, at 1,561.92.
