The book is the first book to examine Ghana?s compliance with the UN Convention on the fight  for a gender based  violence free society in Ghana, and was put  together through the collaboration of the Ghana police  service, through the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit  (DOVVSU), UNFPA and the ministry of  Gender, Children and Social Protection.

The book examines the barriers to realizing gender rights in Ghana and the obstacles in seeking to overcome them. It would help in bridging an important gap in literature about Ghana.

The training manual assembled contributions from practitioners in the fields of law, human rights, anthropology, social work, NGOs among others.

The book, was launched by Hon John Alexander Ackon, deputy minister for gender, children and social protection. He commended the Police administration for embracing the initiative to  enhance  the skills of DOVVSU.
Dennia Gayle, UNFPA deputy representative, at the launch of the training manual praised the  fruitful collaboration between UNFPA and DOVVSU.
