The Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that the peace plan announced by U.S. President Donald Donald Trump to end the conflict between Israel and Palestine is “stillborn.”
“This plan is an annexation plan aiming to destroy the two-state solution and seize Palestinian territories,” the ministry said in a statement.
“Palestinian people and the land of Palestine cannot be bought off,” it added.
Earlier in the day, Trump revealed the details of his Middle East peace plan, dubbed as the Deal of the Century, at the White House along with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump said the plan recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s “undivided capital.”
Jerusalem is Turkey’s red line, the Turkish ministry noted, saying Ankara would not support any plan that does not have the support of Palestine.
“Turkey would not allow any step seeking to legitimize Israel’s occupation and atrocities,” the ministry said. “There will not be any peace in the Middle East without ending Israel’s occupation policies.” Enditem
