A UN helicopter shot down in a South Sudan combat zone was carrying a crew of four and operated by a Russian carrier, according to the Interfax news agency.
The Mi 8 transport helicopter was flying for the United Nations and owned by Russian carrier Utair when it was shot down by unknown gunmen, Interfax reported, citing an unnamed “informed source” in Moscow.
It added that the fate of the crew was being investigated. A UN representative told Interfax that the crew members were Russian citizens.
