The US Embassy is urging the Ghanaian media to give equal coverage for all political parties in this year?s electioneering campaigns.
Information Officer at the Public Affairs Section, Jeanne Clark, believes harmony between the media and political parties will help reduce tension for peaceful polls.
She is also calling on the Electoral Commission to place emphasis on training journalists in the electoral process especially on the newly- introduced biometric system.
Jeanne Clark was speaking exclusively to Nhyira News during a visit to Oxford Institute of Acting & Journalism, a private media training school in Kumasi.
She disclosed the Embassy will from next academic session send some media experts to orient student journalists in the country including the institution to equip them for the job market.
She stressed that media personnel must avoid the temptation to endorse political parties if they want to win and maintain public trust.
Jeanne Clark indicates the U.S. Embassy will partner the Ghana Journalists Association in the area of training.
She called on the media to lead open debate on manifestoes of political parties to help the electorate make informed decisions about their voting pattern.
