More than 12 buses were brought into the country in October to augment the existing ones, shoring it up to over 200 buses, in anticipation of heavy movement of passengers during the Christmas and New Year festivities, VIP transporter operators said.

Mr Eric Botwe, VIP Transport Manager told the GNA on Wednesday that the company expected a rise in commuters, following mass movement of travelers on the eve of Christmas, and so called in more buses in Kumasi.

?There is usually shortage of buses over weekends, so on 23rd December when passengers were picking up, we called in buses from Kumasi, and so we did not experience shortage as it happened in the previous year,? he added.

The GNA visit to the terminal showed a large number of buses packed in the yard while passengers for short queues to board buses to their various destinations across the country.

Some passengers said travelling was not hectic, relative to past New Year seasons as there seem not to be any pressure on availability of buses.
