The Volta River Authority (VRA) has served notice an inspection work at one of its units at the Akosombo Dam could lead to interruption of power in certain parts of Ghana.
A statement from the VRA said, “as a result of a planned shutdown of Akosombo Unit No.4 (1G4) for splitter Vane inspection works, there will be a shortfall in power supply up to 115MW on the following days:
Saturday, June 9, 2012, 18.00HRS -23.00HRS;
Sunday, June 10, 2012, 18.00HRS-23.00HRS
Monday, June 11, 2012, 06.00HRS-16.00HRS.”
The VRA is urging consumers to take note and bear with them “in case they experience some power outages during this period.”
