Jesus stated at Luke 4:43, “I must preach the Kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.” Here Jesus lets us know that preaching the Kingdom of God was the main work he was sent to do. So Christians, who are followers of Jesus Christ, must preach God’s Kingdom too. 1 Peter 2:21.
The early Christians did so. Luke 8:1; Acts 28:23,31. They preached from house to house and otherwise. Acts 5:42; Acts 20:20. In speaking of the Last Days in Matthew chapter 24, Jesus said at Matthew 24:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom SHALL be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
Since we now live in the Last Days, then Jesus is plainly showing us that before the end of the world comes, Christians will be preaching actively today about God’s Kingdom, which is a Christian’s main work.
While doing kind deeds for others in a community, including helping the poor etc, is good, we cannot change what Jesus said should be first in our lives – God’s Kingdom. Matthew 6: 33. For those of us who claim to be Christians, we do well to ask ourselves, “Am I having a share in preaching the gospel of the Kingdom like Jesus and the early Christians did?”
Please read 1 Corinthians 9:16.
