Alfred Woyome
EMBATTLED AND defiant Alfred Agbesi Woyome has fired a multi-pronged attack on the National Democratic Congress (NDC), New Patriotic Party (NPP) and erstwhile Attorney-General, Martin Amidu over the controversial judgment debt now a matter of adjudication at an Accra High Court.
In a statement in response to the recent press conference by the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) regarding the judgment debt and government’s seeming foot-dragging on it, Mr. Woyome through his communications team charged that some elements in both the NDC and NPP are in bed with a view to protecting some members of the largest opposition party for their role in the judgment debt issue when they were in power.
“We believe that elements of the ruling NDC government are in bed with elements from the opposition NPP and view the hanging of Mr. Alfred Woyome as a necessary occurrence to enable them successfully carry through their conspiratorial plot to protect certain personalities in the erstwhile NPP regime,” he stressed.
As for former Attorney General, Martin Amidu whose concern was that there was a delay in prosecuting the judgment issue, Mr. Woyome frowned at the observation which AFAG recalled during the press conference.

Martin Amidu
He wondered why Mr. Amidu would talk about delay when he supervised the AG’s Department for some ten months.
“How can Mr. Amidu be saying ‘time is of essence’ when he supervised the AG’s office for a little over Ten (10) months and, on two previous occasions, he oversaw the state’s withdrawal of the case against Alfred Woyome,” he said describing Mr. Amidu’s remarks as hypocritical and absurd.
The financial engineer pointed out that although he is a staunch member of the NDC making financial contributions to it, never has he publicized the gesture.
“Mr. Woyome does not deny being a staunch member of the National Democratic Congress [NDC]. We categorically state that, yes, Mr. Woyome has made financial contributions to the NDC but never has Mr. Alfred Woyome publicly confessed being an NDC financier,” he said.
He denies entering into any form of bargain with the state to conceal some names as alleged by AFAG explaining defiantly that “the Judgment debt paid to Alfred Agbesi Woyome was legitimately obtained through a court of competent jurisdiction.”
Mr. Woyome stressed that he is fully committed to the legal process and eager to as he put it “have his day in court so that he can tell his story to the courts and, by extension, to the good people of Ghana. Indeed, Mr. Woyome is not even interested in having any form of discussion with the state outside of the court,” the statement said.
