John Magufuli of the governing Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) was elected as Tanzania’s fifth president last week after defeating his closet opponent former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa.

The Zambian leader told reporters before departure that the new Tanzanian leader is well placed to take the reign of the nation because he is not a newcomer in the political arena as he belongs to the governing party which has been ruling the country for many years.
The Zambian leader further pledged that his government will work with the new Tanzanian leader to ensure that he succeeds.
Lungu, who won the became Zambia’s sixth president after winning a presidential election held on January 20, 2015 which was called following the death of President Michael Sata, has since called on countries in Africa to embrace democracy and respect the views of the majority during elections.
