The Asante Akim North District has acquired a 20,000 acre land to support the district’s industrialisation drive under the one district one factory (1D1F) programme.
Mr Francis Oti Boateng, District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area said the district had already received approval for the establishment of a cassava processing factory, under the 1D1F.
Mr Oti Boateng was speaking after inspecting the clearing of 8,000-acre land for the plantation of cassava to feed the factory, which would produce cassava floor and other related products at Agogo.
Mr Boateng said aside the cassava processing factory, the district was also waiting for approval to establish industries to produce alcoholic beverages, water melon juice and tomato paste in the area.
He said under a special initiative programme being implemented by the Assembly, 30,000 cashew seedlings would be distributed to farmers for planting this season to boost cashew production in the district.
Mr Boating urged the youth in the area to strive to acquire the needed skills to position them well to serve as the labour force for the numerous investors who wanted to establish businesses in the area.
