Speaking at the end of the two-week course in Accra, Mr Donkor said uncertainties in the trend of emerging security issues were a clarion call to equip defence forces to meet both current and future threats.

The course, which started from June 27 to July 8, involved participants from the Ghana Armed Forces, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and local and foreign security agencies and aimed at improving governance and management of the defence and security sectors.

It was organised by the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) in collaboration with the Defence Academy and Cranfield University in the United Kingdom, as part of its curriculum to bring together agencies of state to learn and deliberate on common approaches to important national issues.

Mr Donkor said effective and efficient management of defence was multi-dimensional and multi-social in nature that hinged on the collaboration of various agencies in both the public and private sectors which called for teamwork for effective national development.

He urged the participants to serve as trainers in their various organisations to enable more people to benefit from the programme.

He said they must be focal points for the regular exchange of information among their organisations for improved collaborations and healthier management of defence issues in an era where prompt sharing of accurate intelligence or the failure to do so could translate directly into life or death.
