3 killed as FDLR rebels attack village in eastern DR Congo

Civil society groups in the region said three other people were kidnapped by the rebels during the attack.

“The assailants fled into the bush after the attack with the three hostages,” Salomon Chandi, a civil society group member in North Kivu told Xinhua.

Salomon appealed for cooperation between provincial and national authorities in the fight against FDLR rebels in the region, where seven people have already been killed and five others kidnapped by FDLR in one week.

Separately, Congolese military claimed that operations to track down FDLR rebels in the region had began on Thursday. Enditem
