According to Mr Yaw Asamoah, the Convenor of the Summit, he noted that Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs ) are the engine growth of the economy.
This he said, there is the need to empower entrepreneurs to learn modern skills for sustainable business.
The only way we can help them to increase their productivity, drive efficiency and increase growth is by empowering them .
Adding that, the summit will also provide networking and mentoring opportunities for SME owners, and avenues for them to showcase their products.
The summit is aimed at providing SMEs opportunity to learn from major industry players and also understand business growth essentials.
According to him, SME organisation, are defined as any organisation whether for profit or non-profit engaged in economic activities with an annual revenue base of up to $30 million and employing up to 300 people.
In interview with Professor Pikay Richardson from the Manchester Business School, he stated unequivocally that the government must come out with a strong policies that will anchor SMEs in the country.
This he said, NGOs and Private organizations who are financially sound should endeavour to assist SMEs since they are the engine growth of the economy.
More so, Professor Pikay also urged the youth to always embrace business opportunities and also adhere to best practices, that will help sustain their businesses.
This years 3rd Vodafon African SMEs Summit was organised by events and marketing communications firm, Creative Trends.
The summit is supported by First National Bank, Phoenix Insurance, the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and the National Investment Bank (NIB), with Graphic Business as the main media partner.
