66 Artillery Regiment praised for maintaining peace


Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Deputy Volta Regional Minister, on Friday commended officers and men of the 66 Artillery Regiment for maintaining peace and order in the Region in 2014.wpid-240xmgs85ar11qpkghanaarmedforcesgaf

He said though the year saw renewed fighting between Nkonyas and Alavanyos, the soldiers ensured that peace prevailed in that area and the whole Region.

Mr Ganyaglo commended the soldiers at the 2014 West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA) of the Unit in Ho.

The occasion climaxes the Unit?s activities for 2014 and served as entertainment for troops and the barracks community, with soldiers who distinguished themselves over the period rewarded.

Mr Ganyaglo asked the soldiers to remain professional and maintain good relationship with the civilian population.

Lieutenant Colonel Selorm K. Amengor, Commanding Officer of the Regiment, in a speech read on his behalf asked the soldiers to remain loyal to the Constitution of the country.

He urged them to avoid complacency, instead be disciplined and dedicated to their call to achieve set goals.

Lt. Col. Amengor described the performance of the Regiment in 2014 as remarkable and challenged the soldiers to resolve to achieve higher targets in 2015.

Present were heads of security services, decentralised departments and agencies and families of the soldiers.

The soldiers competed in combat readiness and dressing as part of the activities to mark the occasion.
