Two suspects have been arrested for stealing large quantities of underground cables belonging to Vodafone Ghana, a telecommunications company.
The police gave their names as Daniel Adetu, 40 a labourer and Dodzi Amekudzi, 21 also a labourer.
Speaking to journalists, the Adenta District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Kofi Odame said, on April 27, a witness saw the two accused persons entering into an underground cable pit of Vodafone Ghana, located at the Ritz Junction in Accra and came out with pieces of underground cables.
They carried their booty into two sacks and were leaving, when the alarm was raised by a group of young men, who pursued and arrested them.
DSP Odame said the suspects were handed over to the night police patrol team and during investigations the culprits denied the offence but were arraigned.
