Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah was delighted with the performance of his players despite their 3-1 friendly defeat to Japan on Tuesday.

The Black Stars allowed the Blues Samurai to come from behind to win the match in Yokohama 3-1 after Frank Acheampong gave the visitors the lead.

The West Africans played without several of their key players as coach Appiah gave the chance to several youngsters who are bench warmers in the his team.

Top stars Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew, Michael Essien, Mubarak Wakaso, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Kwadwo Asamoah and Kevin-Prince Boateng were missing in action for the Black Stars.

Appiah says in spite of the absence of the top players, his side that featured the likes of Chrsitian Atsu, goalscorer Acheampong and Abdul Majeed Waris all did well in the match.

?I was very positively impressed by the performance of my players, they all did well,? Appiah said at the post match conference.

?To build a team, it is important to play against top teams as Japan.?

Ghana took the lead through Acheampong in the 24th minute before three second half goals sealed the doom of the Black Stars.

Manchester United Shinji Kagawa drew the home side level with a curled in effort in the 50th minute before Yasuhito Endo and Keisuke Honda scored to complete the turn-around.
