The Avenor Traditional Council in the Volta Region has imposed a customary ban on all funerals and other mass gatherings on Avenor land.
The embargo aligns with the preparations and activities for the upcoming 2024 Avenor Tutudo Za festival in November.
The Festival Central Planning Committee announced this in a letter signed by its Chairman, Torgbui Tali Gafatsi III, and distributed to all media houses on July 18.
“The Avenor Traditional Council announces for the general public information that it has commenced preparations and activities to mark the celebration of this year’s Avenor Tutudoza in November 2024,” the letter stated.
According to the letter, the ban will be in effect from Monday, November 11, to Monday, November 25, 2024. The Council appealed to the general public to cooperate by adhering to the veto.
“Torgbui Dorglo Anumah VI, the Paramount Chief and the President of Avenor Traditional Council, and his chiefs appeal to the general public to cooperate with them by strictly observing the ban to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration,” the letter added.
The Avenor Tutudo Za festival, celebrated by the chiefs and people of Avenor, is an invitation to all sons and daughters of Avenor, as well as non-indigenes, to visit, witness the community’s vibrancy, and support efforts in building a better traditional area.
The rebranded festival is celebrated under the auspices of the Avenor Traditional Council and the royal patronage of Torgbui Dorglo Anumah VI.
The festival highlights the cultural heritage of Avenor and serves as a platform to foster unity and development within the community.
The Council is keen on ensuring that the festivities proceed smoothly, hence the imposition of the ban on large gatherings and funerals to maintain order and focus on the celebration.
