A non-governmental organization(NGO), the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria(TAN) has urged and called on all Nigerians for understanding and to avoid making discouraging comments about the nation’s military in their concerted war against the terror groups in parts of the country.
>
> This call was made by the director of? operation of the political advocacy group, Barr Benchuks Nwosu while speaking with newsmen in Awka.
>
> He pointed out that the issue of security should be handled with care and subtlety and that the comments made by Nigerians have the tendency to negatively or positively affect the who are facing the dreaded insurgents so that the rest of the populace can have peace.
>
> Barr Nwosu noted that it is enough sacrifice for anybody to choose to serve the nation as an army officer, hence such individuals need to be encourage with positive remarks instead of disparaging them and calling them names on pages of newspapers and broadcast media.
>
> The TAN director of Operations observed that people from other climes normally speak well of and encourage their military even in the face of obvious severe challenges and wonder why some sections of the country under the toga of opposition will attempt to ridicule the nation’s pride by calling the military all manner of unprintable names.
>
> He emphasized that there is nowhere in the world that politics is mixed with security. ” It is common knowledge that whenever the United States of America is confronted with challenging security issues, the democrats and the republicans will put aside their political opposing and competing ideologies and pursue the security challenges to a reasonable conclusion as one united Americans”.
> Nwosu observed that such attitude from the political class especially will not only be an encouragement to the military, it will also helped boost patriotism among every member of the society. ” But a situation where people always look for occasion to cry foul when there is need for none is capable of enthroning anarchy.”
>
> The legal luminary said that his position does not foreclose freedom of speech but added quickly that such freedom should be used with utmost responsibility? and with national interest as it is done in other climes.
>
> He also commended the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan for the mature way it has been handling the nation’s security challenges which according to him could have degenerated into civil war if not for the president’s tact and disposition to governance.
