The Burkina Faso army killed at least 15 suspected terrorists in Pama, a locality in the east region, on Wednesday, a security source told Xinhua on Friday.

“An operation conducted on Dec. 11 by security task forces for the East and Central-East regions enabled to destroy a base and to neutralize 15 terrorists,” the source, who demanded anonymity, said.

Weapons, drugs and improvised explosive devices were also recovered in the operation, the source said.

Security has worsened in the west-African country, with almost daily attacks, mostly in northern regions.

Since 2015, terrorist attacks have claimed the lives of over 700 people, including 200 army soldiers, and displaced thousands of others in Burkina Faso. Enditem
