On Oct. 21, the government had already disbursed fundings to electoral campaigns and activities outside of the campaigns, but most candidates complained that the funds were “insufficient.”

Over 5.5 million Burkinabes will be expected to cast their votes to elect a new president and hence restore constitutional order that was disrupted after a popular uprising that pushed Blaise Compaore out of power in October 2014.

Fourteen candidates, among them four independent candidates and two women, were approved by the Constitutonal Council to take part in the elections. Enditem
