Nana Ansah Sasraku, the Mamfehene, said it was the contribution of the chiefs towards efforts at improving the quality of education in the area.
He said the books alongside the occasional supply of mathematical sets and other learning materials by the Council were meant to give some relief to parents.
Promoting effective teaching and learning, he said was a shared responsibility and invited everybody to accept to play their part to enhance the performance of schools.
He called for all stakeholders – the government, chiefs, parents, teachers, religious and corporate bodies to act together to ensure that there was access to education and there was also quality.
Nana Sasraku appealed to the head teachers to see to the fair distributed of the books to benefit every school child.
The donation was timed to coincide with the swearing-in of the new Dabehene of Mamfe, Nana Kofi Obeng Kwakye.
