UGHELLI – NATIONAL Union of Hotels and Personal Services Workers, has called on the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, to intervene in what it described as the enslavement of its members working in Chevron Nigeria Limited under Outsourcing Services Limited, OSL, a subsidiary of G45 Nigeria.

The union in a petition to Governor Uduaghan, said the workers were employed since 2002 by OSL, alleging that its members were denied many rights and privileges since they started work in Chevron, and that their contractual agreements had been breached by the company.

The union in the petition by its National Chairman, Mr Godwin Onobukoraye, said: “Workers are made to work 12 hours instead of eight hours stipulated by the labour law since 2002 till date without overtime being paid for the extra four hours put in as agreed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, CBA.”

The union further alleged that those working offshore were being paid for 14 days instead of 28 days as stated in the CBA.
