COSPE Aids Jomoro District Assembly

The Jomoro District Assembly has received a Nissan double cabin, a Suzuki 125 motorbike, and office equipment from Cooperazione Allo Sviluppo Peri Paesi Emergenti (COSPE), an NGO to aid the running of the district.Nissan double cabinMs. Christina Coletto, COSPE Project Coordinator, said the donation formed part of the more than 40,000 Euros logistical support to the Nzema East Municipal and Jomoro District Assemblies to boost water and sanitation activities and other technical duties in both assemblies.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Jomoro, Mr. Sylvester N. Daddieh, who received the items, expressed his gratitude to the NGO, saying the items would complement the assembly?s effort at enhancing the lives of lives of the citizenry in the area.

He appealed to other NGOs in the country to emulate the gesture of COSPE and assist other districts.

Ms. Coletto said her outfit in collaboration with the Assemblies was implementing a project captioned: ?Strengthening Organizational Units on Water and Sanitation Governance in Rural and Coastal Environment (SOURCE) of Ghana.

She said the project aimed at strengthening the local Water & Sanitation Governance System to upgrade its efficiency in service delivery, building sustainable and equitable management of resources, among others.

SOURCE is an European Commission co-financed project implemented by Ente Acque della Sardegna (ENAS), an Italian water company; Ghana Water Company limited (GWCL), Ghana Wildlife Society (GWS), Sanitation Improvement Platform (SIPA) and the two Assemblies.

The ceremony in Axim saw the presentation of a Suzuki 125 jungle motorbike, quality water testing kits, GIS machines and office equipment, including laptops, printers, photocopier and a generator to the Assembly.
