A member of a robbery gang that raided a mining site and made off with cash of GH?9,000.00 and a quantity of gold, has been remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court.

John Donkor alias ‘Salifu Kalusha’ pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy and robbery.

He was ordered to make his next appearance on February 21.

Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah told the court, presided over by Mrs. Mary Nsenkyire, that the incident happened in the Atwima-Mponua District.

The accused, together with 12 others on the run, carrying a pump action gun and knives attacked the mining site operated by Mr. Asiedu Keteke, seized and fled with the cash and gold.

The prosecution said Donkor was arrested with the pump action gun at Goaso in the Brong-Ahafo Region after the robbery, where he had attempted to sell the gun.

He confessed to the crime in his caution statement.
