Discovery Group Empowers Ghanaian Youth

Discovery Group International, a multinational with several subsidiaries, has launched the Discovery Forum and Queens Pageant in Accra.

The forum, which will last for two years and broadcast on all media networks in Ghana, is aimed at promoting and recruiting the youth for entrepreneurship and self-enterprise development initiatives.

The Oueens Pageant also seeks to develop the whole woman mind, body and spirit for effective entrepreneurship, business and management development and enhancement.

Musah Mohammed, General Manager of Discovery Ghana, who launched the two programmes, said the initiative formed part of the social corporate responsibility of the company.

He said the project will directly address the problems of those who had been affected by globalization.

?Discovery Forum is here to address business issues and needs of the country since over the years, government?s efforts at creating jobs have not been helpful to the citizens,? he said.

The forum will focus on key areas such as key facilitator?s lectures and official statements on their programmes and projects, industry based assessment and shared business visits to industries, debriefing and link up activities and promotions exhibition, demonstration & sale of products, technologies and services.

He said the forum will create a platform for all players in the private sector to outline opportunities for resources, technologies and management systems for youth advocacy and development activities.

Edem Srem, Producer of the Discovery Forum, explaining the rationale behind the pageant to the media, said it is to enhance advocacy to empower participants and sustainably create jobs and business for the youth and women in particular.

?It is the mission of this pageant to provide enterprise and career development opportunities to women and girls.?

He said winners drawn from the 10 regions will be housed and exposed to industry, commerce and development work for three months during the national event.

Prizes for the pageant include furnished houses, cash prizes and a car.
