Dr Mahama Drops Hint Of Possible Alliance With CPP

The flagbearer of the Peoples’ National Convention (PNC), Dr Edward Mahama, has hinted of a possible merger between PNC and the Convention People’s Party (CPP) towards the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Dr Edward Mahama, who contested the Presidential elections on the ticket of the PNC for four times, said his election as the flagbearer of the PNC will not stall any moves for an alliance of the two political parties to present a candidate to win political power from the ruling government.

wpid-dr-edward-mahama1.jpgHe said, “If there is a desire for us to field one candidate then some arrangements can be made… I have advocated… it in the past. I haven’t changed my position.”

Dr Edward Mahama who paid a courtesy call on ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, said in an interview that the National Convention Partyin the past, stood  against all odds and  formed an alliance  with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 1996 with Mr Arkaah being the vice-presidential hopeful to the then presidential candidate of the NPP, John Kufuor.

In that regards, Dr Edward Mahama said he saw no reasons why there would be impediments in their way should the PNC and the CPP decide to form an alliance.
