A 24-year-old driver who conspired with others to steal, has been remanded into prison custody by the Juaben Circuit Court.
Musthapha Abass, is said to have conspired with two other drivers, who are currently on the run, to cause damage and steal a car battery at Krofoum in the Kumasi Metropolis.
The Court presided over by Mr Yusif Osei Asibey, also issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the accomplices, identified as Abuu and Junior.
Police Chief Superintendent David Amoako, prosecuting, said the accused and his accomplices, are residents of Dichemso, a suburb of Kumasi.
He said on March 14, this year at about 0200 hours the suspects met at the Krofoum traffic light, planned and drove to the premises of Sika FM, where the complainant, Mr Nelson Awuah, had parked his tipper truck vehicle under the care of a security guard.
Chief Superintendent Amoako, said the suspect broke the side glass of the vehicle and removed the battery of the truck.
He said the security guard who heard a noise raised an alarm and the suspects took to their heels.
Chief Superintendent Amoako said a Police patrol team was called and they intercepted the suspects and arrested Abass together with his vehicle.
His accomplices however managed to escape.
He said the police retrieved a bunch of keys and other tools used allegedly by the gang to break into people’s cars.
The suspect was sent to the Tafo-Pankrono Police station, where he admitted in his cautioned statement to have stolen the battery and mentioned the two other suspects.
