Education Watch, a leading pressure group in Ghana has announced that arrangements are being made for the release of the full version of the sermon preached by Pastor Mensah Otabil, General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church in which he made statements on free education to be played by various radio stations across the country.
Our intentions are noble and just and in the public interest. Our objective is to provide the public with relevant information from reliable sources for them to make informed choice in matters of national choice, the Executive Secretary of Education Watch Ghana, Agbezuge Kofi Doe-Lawson said in a statement.
According to him, they have taken this step in order to clear all doubts surrounding the advertisement they sponsored in which Pastor Otabil?s voice featured.
However Pastor Otabil recently said the group pieced together different sermons delivered by him at different times in order to defame him and expose him to public ridicule.
Mr Doe-Lawson therefore urged the general public to listen carefully to the full version of the sermon and take note that the voice clips used in our advertisement were all taken from this one sermon and not from different sermons as stated by the revered man of God.
He hoped that the playing of this full version will settle all genuine doubts about this matter, urging the leadership of the International Central Gospel Church to put out the full version of the sermon in question so that comparisons can be drawn by the general public between the two.
The pressure group emphasised that Education Watch Ghana never put any interpretation on Dr Otabil?s views which he freely and boldly expressed.
Mr Doe-Lawson stated: ?We only sponsored its rebroadcast without ascribing our own meaning to it neither did we put dates to the sermons seeing that we have always agreed with Dr Mensa Otabil that God?s word is indeed a ?Living Word? without expiry dates.?
