A ten-man Chile side managed to come back from a goal down to defeat Egypt 2-1 in their opening Group E match of the Under-20 World Cup on Sunday evening.
The African Champions took the lead in the ninth minute through Mahmoud Kahraba, but goals from Nicolas Castillo and Christian Bravo ensured they go top of the group.
The fixture marked the opening game of Group E which also consisted of England and Iraq, and both Chile and Egypt came into the game hoping to claim top spot of the pool knowing that the two other teams were kicking-off later in the evening.
Chile got the game off to a positive start with a long ball into the box straight from the kick-off, but Egypt?s goalkeeper Awad Mossad did well to rush off his line and gather with ease.
Despite Chile?s dominance in possession, they were looking slow in defending Egypt?s counter-attacking play and it got the better of them when Mahmoud Kahraba made it 1-0 in the ninth minute. The striker burst in from behind his marker and slotted a through ball past Dario Melo in goal.
Kahraba nearly made it two in the 16th minute when his shot grazed the far post, before it was Chile?s chance to find the back of the net eight minutes later.
The South Americans performed some great teamwork in the box which eventually fell to the feet of Nicolas Castillo. His shot took a slight deflection off a defender which chipped over the Egyptian goalkeeper and into the back of the net, making it 1-1.
