Fidelity Bank Ghana has completed a renovation of the multipurpose auditorium at the Police Public Safety Training School in Pwalugu, the latest in a decade of support for the institution.

The bank handed over the refurbished facility at a ceremony on August 21, with Harold Ansa, Head of Personal Banking at Fidelity Bank, presenting it to the school’s director, Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr. Wilson Aniagyei. The auditorium now serves as a space for training sessions, conferences and other institutional activities.

The building had fallen into disrepair, with years of rain damage leaving it largely unusable before the renovation, according to the bank.

The project builds on a relationship that dates back roughly ten years. In 2024, Fidelity Bank constructed a mechanised borehole at the school after previous attempts by other organisations failed to locate a viable water source, ending a water shortage that had affected the institution for more than a decade. The bank has also upgraded the school’s kitchen and supplied cookers, gas cylinders, dining tables and benches.

Ansa, speaking on behalf of Godfred Attafuah, the bank’s Divisional Director of Retail Banking, said the investment reflects the institution’s importance to national security. “This is not a transaction. It is a partnership we intend to sustain,” he said.

Receiving the facility on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Aniagyei thanked the bank for its consistency over the years and said the renovated auditorium would benefit successive cohorts of recruits passing through the school.

The Pwalugu facility, formally known as the Police Public Safety Training School, trains new recruits for the Ghana Police Service and has graduated hundreds of officers in recent years.
