Striker Florence Dadson Scores Five Goals In Robert Morris Win
The 15th ranked Robert Morris Women?s Soccer team earned a come-from-behind 5-3 victory over Grand View University (Iowa) behind five goals from senior forward Florence Dadson on Saturday at the Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines, Iowa.
The victory raised the Eagles? record to 1-1-1 on the season.
The Eagles controlled the tempo for the opening 15 minutes of the game but it was Grand View that struck first on a Nicole Pirie breakaway goal at the 15:43 mark.
Pirie and the Vikings extended their lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute when Pirie finished another breakaway attempt after dribbling around RMU goalkeeper Ana Hernandez and tucking the ball into an empty net.
The Eagles were able to pull one back before half-time when NAIA All-American and 2012 CCAC Conference Player of the Year Florence Dadson battled for a loose ball in the Grand View box and poked a shot past goalkeeper Morgan Buzzell in the 37th minute.
Dadson struck again just 38 seconds into the second half, scoring a breakaway goal on a ball through from Linda Eshun to tie the game at 2-2.
Dadson completed her hat trick in the 58th minute when she chipped a shot from just inside midfield over Buzzell?s head and into the goal for a 3-2 RMU lead.
Still not done for the day, the Eagles? scoring sensation added a fourth goal in the 82nd minute on another breakaway attempt set up on a pass from Carolynn Wieland to up the lead to 4-2.
Just over a minute later, Grand View answered back and cut the RMU lead to 4-3 but once again Dadson made sure the Eagles headed home with the win, bending in a free kick with a 1:11 to play for a 5-3 RMU win.
Ana Hernandez made nine saves in goal for RMU to earn the victory.
?I liked the way we played and battled through the second half to get the win,? stated RMU Head Coach Kurt Melcher.
?We started the game out well but we got rattled after the first Grand View goal. We challenged the team at half-time and they responded positively and did the things necessary to win this game. We still have some work to do but the second half showed what we are capable of and obviously Florence (Dadson) had an outstanding game today.?
