Four communicators of the NPP in the Northern Region have been suspended in connection with the raging row over the School Feeding Program in the area.
Supporters of Gender Minister Otiko Djaba and the Northern Regional NPP Chairman Bugri Naabu have been trading insults and accusations over the award of school feeding contracts and appointments.
In the latest twist, four NPP communicators including a Staff of the School Feeding Secretariat have been suspended allegedly holding secret meetings with officials from the National Secretariat.
Fighting over local leadership of the program in the region has intensified in the last four months, with two factions emerging, one led by Bugri Naabu and the other by Otiko Djaba whose ministry is clothed with the regulatory supervision of the Program.
The divisions were created after the regional chairman led his camp, an alliance of women organizers of the party in the region, to disrupt a meeting held by the minister with another women wing, in Tamale following accusations she was supporting a candidate for the regional coordinator post of the program. The chairman is rooting for a different candidate for the same position.
