Five people were detained overnight in the south of France on suspicion of organizing a terrorist attack, local media reported Tuesday.

The arrests were made late Monday and early Tuesday in Beziers and Montpelier and a cache of explosives were found by police, the local newspaper Midi Libre reported. At least one Chechen national was among those arrested, it said.

The AFP news agency said all five suspects were Russians of Chechen origin.

The arrests were made as France is still shaken after three days of attacks this month that left 20 people, including three gunmen, dead. Security forces have been placed on high alert.

Investigators have handed the case over to anti-terrorism squads, reports said, and searches were ongoing.
