Ghacem increases presence in the Northern

GhacemNana Philip Archer, the Commercial Director of Ghacem, has announced that henceforth the company will stock the Northern regional market with about 60,000 bags of cement weekly, all things being equal.

The decision, he said, forms part of Ghacem?s resolve to meet the huge demand for quality cement in the region, brought about by the increasing spate of on-going construction projects.

Nana Archer noted that out of the allocation, between 15,000 and 20,000 bags will be dispatched by road while about 30,000 to 40,000 will be dispatched via the Volta Lake Transport Company, VLTC.

He also assured that Ghacem will supply the Wa (Upper West) market with another 18,000 to 20,000 bags of cement weekly.

He made the announcement at a ceremony to re-open the Ghacem Tamale Depot on Wednesday, February 20.

It was attended by top-profile dignitaries and residents from the Northern, Upper East and West Regions, who applauded Ghacem for the decision to meet the demand in their respective markets for quality cement.

They included the Northern Regional Minister, Moses Mabengba; Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Tamale, Alhaji Abdulai Haruna Friday; and the Chief of Lamashiegu-Lamashie, Naa Alhaji Zeblim Abdulai among others.

Mr. Moses Mabengba expressed gratitude for the effort by Ghacem to respond to the cry for good quality cement.

He commended Ghacem for the enormous support it has given schools and hospitals in the Northern Region through its Ghacem Cement Foundation.

The Regional Minister, however, decried the arbitrary pricing of cement by distributors in the region — due to the shortfall in supply by Ghacem making prices uncompetitive.

He therefore urged Ghacem to flood the market with more products to avert the unfortunate situation of unnecessary price hikes of cement.

At a closed-door meeting to climax the ceremony, some distributors in the region called on Ghacem to ensure consistent supplies through the depot system to enable them meet the ever-increasing market demand for Ghacem cement.

The Head of Distribution and Sales, Mr. Benny Fiifi Ashun, encouraged the Distributors and End-Users to communicate all their challenges to Ghacem through its sales offices and depots, ?as we intend to fill all the sales channels with good quality cement until there will be no space for any competitor.?
