Ghana Premier League Gradually Gathering Momentum

The Ghana Premier League enters the third week, as it is gradually gathering momentum, with Kumasi Asante Kotoko playing host to Bechem United, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Porcupines, will seek to continue their record at home against the Hunters and perhaps deepen their woes after an early elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.

Notwithstanding the absence of captain Amos Frimpong and Striker Obed Owusu, Kotoko will strive to maintain their unbeaten record, having picked a point at the Golden City Park, against their bogey side Berekum Chelsea on last week Sunday.

This will be bolstered by the presence of new boy Baba Mahama, who been declared fit to play for the reds.

The Hunters suffered 4-1 (5-3 aggregate) defeat in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup on last week Sunday and will therefore hope to redeem themselves as they come up with Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Newly appointed head coach Vicenzo Alberto Annesse is set to have his debut premier league action together with new boys like Emmanuel Osei Carlos, Abdul Bashiru, Emmanuel Baffour, Isaac Ackon, Daniel Egyin, Moro Salifu and Saddick Abubakr.

At the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra Great Olympics, will battle Elmina Sharks for the first time in the Ghanaian top flight division, as the two newly promoted sides are yet to record their first victory having lost in their previous encounters.

Olympic Suffered a 3-1 defeat to Ashanti Gold at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports stadium last Sunday, a reason for the returnees to go all out against the Sharks, whilst Elmina Sharks recorded a 1-0 loss to probable league favorites Aduana Stars at their newly built Sports stadium, which was apparently their first home defeat in the history of the club.
