The Ghana Statistical Service has finally released the 2010 Population and Housing Census results.
The figure which was announced on Thursday, May 31, 2012 indicates that the total population of Ghana currently stands at 24,658,823 as against 18,912,079 in 2000.
According to the results, there are more females in Ghana than males.
The total number of women in Ghana stands at 12,633,978 as against that of men which is 12,024,845. The figures also indicated that there were more females than males but the gap seemed to have closed up for the 2010 census.
On regional basis, the Ashanti region has the highest number with 4,780,380 and was closely followed by the Greater Accra region which has 4,010,054.
Eastern region,Northern region, Western region, Brong Ahafo region, Central region, Volta region, Upper East followed in that order with the Upper West region in last position with 702,110.
