The Catholic Diocese and Community of Nnewi and many family and friends trooped out for a thanksgiving service and tribute for outgoing Gov. Peter Obi.? He was being honoured for a “successful eight years of stewardship.”?The Catholic Bishop of Minna Rt. Rev Martin Uzoukwu, Bishop Ochiagha, the Emeritus Bishop of Orlu and the chief host, Rt. Revd. Hilary Okeke officiated during the standing room only service. Senior ANSG and the ruling APGA officials were in attendance.In the goodwill address read to the governor, he was praised for “meritorious, credible, exemplary and purposeful leadership”? and “for cutting down the cost of governance to the barest minimum and thereby freeing up funds for work and more work!”? His partnership with the church was characterized as “another magic wand in the success story” of his administration.
The Thanksgiving ceremony was deemed “an unvarnished and fitting testimonial for Gov. Obi from an appreciative electorate and attentive public,” by SSG Oseloka H. Obaze who also attended the service.
