Right Rev. Francis Amenu, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, has called on Ghanaians, especially politicians, to guard against making hate speeches.

He said the phenomenon was becoming a common trend on the airwaves and public platforms across the country.

Right Rev. Amenu said this when the Church commissioned 33 pastors made up of 24 males and nine females in Accra.

The new pastors had their three years training from the Trinity Theological Seminary and the Peki Theological Seminary, Peki.

He called on the National Media Commission (NMC) to strictly enforce the regulations to ensure sanity in the media landscape and also curtail lawlessness among the people.

Rt Rev Amenu also called on the NMC and other stakeholders to sanction media houses that publish sensational headlines that had the tendency of generating conflict.

He appealed to faith-based organizations to advice politicians, who are members of their congregations, to exercise decorum in their public discourse.

The Moderator appealed to the new pastors not to entertain any fear in the discharge of their duties as ministers of the gospel, they should be humble and they should not discriminate in dealing with members of their congregations.

The Rev. Professor J.O.Y. Mante, the President of the Trinity Theological Seminary, urged the pastors to refuse populist desire to be famous in big cities and to remain focussed and faithful to God.

He called on them to strive for excellence, to be disciplined as they provide service to their congregation.

?Do not rest on your oars, be strong, endure hardship so that you can entrust to others what you have learnt,? he added.
