Sekondi Hasaacas got off their promotion campaign to a flying start after beating rivals XI Wise 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium in their Zone 2 opener on Wednesday afternoon.
Winger Stephen Afful and Richard Yamoah scored in either halves to help Kobina Amissah?s men cruise to a deserving victory under a conducive atmosphere in Osu.
Hasaacas had former Ghana international goalkeeper George Owu in their post while former Kotoko attacker Fredrick Quaison also played an instrumental role in the victory.
Wise appeared to be no march for their cross-city rivals in the early stages of the first department as Hasaacas imposed a clearly dominating performance in all departments ? from defence to attack.
Quaison, playing a deep role set up Stephen Afful in the 9th and 16th minutes but the winger missed narrowly.
However, just before the half hour mark, the opening goal arrived. And it was the combination of Quaison?s mastery and artistry that served Afful with a defense-splitting pass for him to finish.
The winger drew first blood for the ?Dooo Boys? cracking home a powerful finish from the edge of the areal.
Hasaacas pressed on and could have scored more within the last 15 minutes of the first department but the opposition defense remain steady.
However, Wise?s steady could be ensured in the early stages after the interval as Hasaacas increased their tally. Once again Quaison was involved.
A flicked from the right found Afful who laid an equally intelligent pass for Yamoah who kept his calm and composure to slot home leaving Ebenezer Enchil the Wise keeper distraught.
The Hasmal Boys are tipped to sail through.
