mba-shipping-and-logistics-managementThe Founder of Institute of Export and Shipping Management, Mr. Felix K. Quarshie has noted that with the current unemployment situation in Ghana, there is the need for an effective sensitization program for Ghanaians to be innovative, creative and enterprising.

According to him, Ghanaians must wake up and create more enterprises of small scale industries and stop depending and looking for already made jobs.

He made these remarks during the second annual graduation of 30 students of the Institute of Export and Shipping Management at Tettegu, in Accra under the theme, ?The Role Of Maritime And Logistics On Creativity, Innovation And Enterprise?.

Mr. Felix K. Quarshie who addressed the graduands indicated that the wisdom of innovation, creativity and enterprise should be preached and inculcated in the curriculum of all schools of higher learning motivation to yield results.

Making some remarks about the establishment of the Institute, Mr. Felix K. Quarshie said, “This institute was established in January 10, 1993 at Accra Newton in a JHS class room. We started with 25 students made up of Ghanaians, Liberians, Togolese, benenoises and Ivoirians. In 1994, we opened our first branch at the Budumbram Liberia camp to serve the Liberians refugees .in 1995, we relocated at Havaad College in Kokomlemle and later moved to Kings College in 1999.”

“…We later moved to Bubuashie in 2000 with the help of a student called Mr. Kingsley through the kind courtesy of the late Madam Afedi and Mr. Kwafo .Thanks a lot. At the same year, we opened branches in Tema, Takoradi, Kumasi and ho. Due to much disloyalty and poor management, we close down all these branches except Takoradi.”

The institute he noted, finally relocated at Tettegu in December 2013.

“We are proud to announce to you that the institute of export and shipping management is the first private school in Ghana to train students in the area of Shipping Management specifically,” he said.

The Founder of the Institute said, the main objectives of establishing the institute was to train students in Export and Shipping Management to enable them enjoy lucrative employment and also afford students the wisdom to setup private businesses in Maritime Trade.

“This is possible because the world is full of problems and we need to create awareness that people like you can solve them, hence our theme for today.”

The President of the Institute’s Student Representative Council (SRC)?Kwame Bekoe, in his welcome address said,?Graduation is an emotional time and that the graduands must be proud of their accomplishment.

“You will treasure this day, and the memories of your senior year for the rest of your life. As Institute of Export and Shipping Management Student Representative Council President, I Hope that the pride you feel as you walk across stage today is rivaled only by the nostalgia [sentimental longing] with which you remember this place and the relationships you forged,” he said.

He indicated that the students of the institute,?entered an Institution which is well recognized and which pushes them to an industry which dominates a countries direct exchange and which some of you some day will become Entrepreneurs.

Institute of Export and Shipping Management, he said, has revived lots who never had confidence in their educational career reach their goals. “The Institute which you see today is what makes your future tomorrow. Institute of Export and Shipping Management is making great impact and when other tertiary institution are mentioned, we amongst the best across the nation and International. There is no doubt, been a part of this institution will make you someone someday. All and Sundry, who want to enroll here, our doors are opened.”

Kwame Bekoe said the Class of 2014 will always hold a very special place in his heart because their last year at Institute of Export and Shipping Management was his?first year as the president. “I feel very lucky to have this opportunity to bid a fond farewell to you ? a class who gave me such a warm welcome.”

“As you explore the world, remember the time that you spent here. As you continue to learn and change, reflect on times when you stumbled and even failed. Stretch you imagination and spirit. Always remember to keep in touch with everyone you met here; your colleagues and lecturers.”
