
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday promised to combat corruption in the country, if given the mandate in upcoming elections.
The Interim Chairman of the party in Sokoto State, Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir told newsmen in Sokoto that the APC would fight corruption to foster nation growth.
“This will also provide the change Nigerians have been yearning for to move the nation forward.”
Abdulkadir said that poverty, corruption and unemployment would be tackled for Nigerians to have sense of belonging.
He said that democratic governance would only be possible if an effective war against corruption was waged to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
The chairman described corruption as the major factor responsible for the country?s backwardness.
“This is to enable the country take its rightful position for peace, progress and political growth of the country,” he added.
Abdulkadir expressed optimism that the electorate would massively work toward achieving the desired political change in the 2015 general elections.
He, however, called on party supporters in the state not to be intimidated by opposition parties.
“We (APC members) should rather work collectively toward promoting political tolerance and understanding for the overall political growth of the country,” he advised.
