Is Tantra Hill also in Accra?

THE constant airing of certain voices on radio advocating for the rights and liberties of groups and individuals reminds the nation of the continual existence of right groups and advocates who would not watch unconcerned as people are treated in a manner which society does not appreciate. Their continual presence and achievements over the years has led many communities and families to always appreciate their presence in their midst due to what they bring on board in terms of development for the community.

THUS, Tantra Hill, as a natural habitat of right-thinking Ghanaians, also celebrate the presence of dozens of such individuals, including media practitioners, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and several managers and professionals who on a daily basis drive in and out of the community. In fact, the way their new and flashy vehicles line up in the mornings and evenings on the roads of the community is a sight to behold.

HOWEVER, their very existence is proving to be a curse rather than a blessing as their influence is hardly felt in the community. They have absolutely failed in using their influences to serve their neighbours despite presenting themselves as the only vocal ones in society; yet fail or refuse to heed calls to alert government and society of the problems of the community.

HOW unfortunate is the reality that right in front of the house of a known radio presenter in Accra is a pool of water which the presenter unashamedly wallows through with his neatly molded metal horse every morning. Yet, he sits on a local radio station in Accra and claim to be advocating for a better society.

YEAR in year out, Tantra Hill has complained of water problems with the dry season being the hardest of times for them as they trek several miles to get access to the necessity. The lucky and the well to do in the community who can afford water storage facilities and wells do sell them at unreasonable cost with the poor always living a desperate life at their mercy.

THE least said of the road to the vicinity the better; the raining season has worsened them and helped to create deep holes in them to replace the usual sandstorm which sweeps across the vicinity with the constant plying of vehicles. The potholes which are cut so deep and store the water for the breeding of mosquitoes happily welcome any visitor to the location.

IN FACT, we at Today wanted to look far to see this community but could not as the Western part of the capital is the location of this community which is occupied by diverse groups of people who contribute significantly to the economy of the country. Professionals and non professionals alike reside in this community and wake up on a daily basis to work tirelessly towards the development of the country.

THE community is the hub of diverse managers and other CEOs of companies who drive to work to cause a change in the country. Not only that vocal and notable pressmen and women who nonetheless advocate for the rights of individuals and other communities also reside in the neatly laid out community.

HOWEVER, their presence is quite insignificant since they have failed in advocating for an upgrading of the community. Residents whom Today agrees with are right if they lament and claim the presence of these professionals are irrelevant.

HOW can such professionals claim to affect society when their main backyard is on fire? It is a shame and must be scolded upon as we make efforts to curb the society of the ?I don?t care syndrome? and the ?government must do everything.?
