Kenneth Omeruo admitted that while the result could have been better, he was more than pleased with his own performance during his Middlesbrough debut.
The Nigeria international joined Boro on loan from parent club Chelsea in January, and savoured his first taste of English professional football as he played the full 90 minutes of the 0-0 draw with Doncaster Rovers at the weekend.
The 20-year-old was delighted to finally make his bow after manager Aitor Karanka opted to ease him into the first-team picture instead of thrusting him in immediately, and says he feels comfortable playing with his new team-mates.
“I wish we had won the game, it would have been better but it was a difficult game,” he said. “I am disappointed with the result but happy with my performance.”
He added: “It’s been very easy (for me to settle in). It’s not much different from what I have been used to at Chelsea (his parent club).
“I just have to listen to the manager and how he wants me to play. There is unity in the team and I keep progressing striving to play each game better than I did the last.”
